About crates
Today, a wooden crate is considered in two functions – a container and an interior item.
The history of the wooden box is unknown. But it is assumed that in the shape of container the crate declared itself at the beginning of the path of commercial and industrial relations, helping merchants to transport their goods.
In the more visible past, a wooden box was used in agriculture, just in the form of containers for harvesting on farms and collective farms. At that time, at the beginning of the mechanization of labor, manual labor, including female labor, was widely used. That’s why the standards of apple, potato and other boxes for their manual transportation were also approved by women.
With the development of mechanization, the crates were replaced by containers, moved from the field to the storage by mechanisms.
Also, recently, plastic, veneered and cardboard boxes have become serious competitors of wooden crates. Wooden boxes made of 10 mm planks have a huge advantage over crates made of veneer. The main advantage is structural strength and reliability, reusability, durability and aesthetics of wooden boxes in front of veneer products.
But, despite all the modern alternatives, the wooden box is widely used in the interior, forming a special and unique attribute of the LOFT-style.
Recently, a wooden box as a “crate in the interior” is gaining popularity in Ukraine. We work and contribute to the further popularization of wooden containers in the interior of our customers.
Product quality
According to Standard 20767-75 “Wooden boxes and wood materials. Terms and definitions” the raw material of our products is a wooden board 10 mm thick. Type of products – thin-walled wooden box.
We assemble our crates with planks made by circular sawing. This type of sawing determines the third-seventh class of surface roughness, which is an interval from 0.5 to 0.1 mm in the difference.
Our company has a tare-crate orientation. We do not provide services such as grinding, painting, tampering, etc.
Difference from carpentry
Crate production and carpentry are two different concepts. The main differences are the thickness of the boards used in production (thicker in the carpentry) and the roughness class (polished joinery). And the most, perhaps, significant factor is the price, which is several times lower for crates than for carpentry decoration of such a wood product.
Our crates are ready for processing, such as painting or grinding. Alternatively, the container can be wiped with burlap, which will prepare it for painting, removing most of the pile.
